Middle Of The Street

We would ride that bus, just about everyday
though we had many complaints and other things to say.
But our parents wouldn’t have it any other way.
Well, on the left side I was assigned a seat,
always envied the kids on the right side,
I wanted to see the other side of the street.

Chorus:
And isn’t it funny how things
always look better on the other side?
And isn’t’ strange how we’ve got
all these problems we’re trying to hide?
One day we’ll wake up from this dream
and we will see, we are just sitting
in the Middle of the street.

The big kids, they’d sit in the back of the bus
and talk about all the cool things.
They’d use cuss words and discuss boyfriends
and show off their brand new earrings.
And I wanted to be just like them,
I wanted to be another metaphor,
of girls who don’t know who they are,
or what they’re here for.

Chorus

And now I’m sitting here
on the right side in the back.
I’ve got nothing to lose,
I’ve got nothing to gain and nothing to lack.
And now that I’m older
its about time that I see,
no matter what I do or try to be
I will always, always, always be me.

Chorus
